Quarter 4- Life Science

Unit Description

In the Life Science unit, students will learn that plants and animals have different body parts that help them survive and grow. These external body parts allow animals to see, grasp objects, protect themselves, move around, and search and intake food, water, and air. Plants also have external parts that allow them to survive and grow. Students will also realize adult plants and animals engage in specific behaviors that help their offspring and themselves survive in dangerous situations. They also use their specific body parts for protection and survival of their young. Using the information gained about how plants and animals survive, students will have the opportunity to design a solution to a human problem.

Students will keep considering…

1. What if an animal or plant had different external body parts?

2. How does the plant and animals external parts connect to their environment?

3. How is structure and function related in living things?
