B.A. (HONOURS) POLITICAL SCIENCE
The course in Political Science deals extensively with the analysis of political systems, the theoretical and practical applications to politics, and the examination of political behaviour. It enables students to engage with the definition and meaning of fundamental concepts of Political Science like power, state, government, law, liberty, equality, justice, gender, sovereignty, separation of powers, methods of representation, forms of government and their working and functions, grounds of political obligation, various ideologies. It also studies the thought of eminent Western and Indian political philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, Machiavelli, Marx, Gandhi and Ambedkar to mention just a few.The course has papers that provide an understanding of issues pertaining to human rights, diplomacy, international politics, foreign policies and international organizations. Lastly, the programme covers study of political parties, pressure groups, interest groups, public policy, public opinion and, political semantics which influences political and social perspectives.
