A little bit about myself.
My name is Kira Morrissey. (My students just call me Ms. Mo!)
This is my 22nd year of teaching music. Prior to arriving at Iola-Scandinavia, I taught in Minnesota, Stevens Point, and Waupaca. I have taught high school and middle school choir, 5th and 6th grade choir, 4th thru 8th grade general music, high school music appreciation, high school music theory, high school band, and all ages of piano, ukulele, and voice lessons. I am a certified judge for solo and ensemble contest through WSMA, an accompanist for the WSMA Honors Project choirs, an accompanist for WCDA All-State children's and collegiate choirs, and a member of several other state and national music organizations.
I love to kayak, paddle board, hike, walk, swim, camp, and in general, be outdoors as much as possible. Other ways I spend time are reading, playing piano, hanging with my friends, working in my flower and vegetable gardens, and taking naps in the hammock!
I have two amazing kids. My daughter is 15 and is in tenth grade. She is active in track, and art, and is a percussionist. My son is 13 and is in 7th grade. He is involved in biking, gaming, reading, and is a clarinetist. They also love the outdoors, so we love being active together.
I am often involved in community theatre. You may remember me from my performances with Waupaca Community Theatre as the Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, and as one of the Boylan Sisters from Annie. I was also in the pit orchestra, playing piano, for the 2018 summer production of Annie Warbucks. I also help organize and perform in Waupaca's Own, a fundraising concert for the Roatary Club in Waupaca.
I am so very blessed to be teaching in a community that loves the fine arts.
I look forward to seeing you in the audience (or on the stage) of our school concerts and school musical productions.
