DC-ICE skaters practice speedskating at Fort Dupont Ice Arena (FDIA) and on inline skates at the Anacostia Skating Pavilion in Washington, DC's Ward 7. Skaters interested in racing represent DC-ICE at local, regional and national short-track speed skating and inline speedskating competitions. Recreational & Fitness skaters practice regularly at local outdoor ice rinks and on local trails throughout the city.
Managed by Nathaniel Mills (Coach Nat), a three-time Olympic speed skater, and coached by DC native Suliman Abdullah, the DC-ICE Skating Club is rooted in the universal principles of Olympism: Joy in Effort, Perseverance, Fair Play, Respect, and Unity.
Honorary DC-ICE Members include: Shani Davis, the pioneering Olympic Champion who inspired the club's creation; local two-time Olympian Maame Biney, who got her competitive start at the DC Open Meet; and 2026 Olympic Hopeful and DC native Conor McDermott-Mostowy. Several other young DC-ICE skaters - Robert Tolliver, Makayla Chou, Anastasia Chan - now train with the renowned Potomac Speedskating Club and have their sights set on 2034 and beyond.
