Early Life:

I was born in Washington, Pennsylvania (Go, Steelers!), and  I am the youngest of five children. My family moved to Iowa to farm when I was three.  I grew up in Lime Springs, attending Crestwood High School.  Growing up I was involved in softball, track, volleyball, speech and drama, choir, cheerleading, and student council.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree from UNI and my Master of Education degree from Viterbo University.  I live in Independence and have two grown daughters.  Two topics close to my heart are mental health and human rights.  I love to travel, be outside, write, read, and take naps; these things mostly have to wait until summer! I also love working with junior high students.  It is so easy to see that the world will be in great hands when you work with so many creative, intelligent, and compassionate young people.
