Meet Ms. Lukes

Hello!  This is my 16th year in Independence and my 29th year of teaching.  After graduating from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN, I taught Kindergarten for two years in the Twin Cities.  Next, I moved to North Carolina and taught there for five years.  I spent one year teaching 6th/7th grade Special Education and four years teaching Title 1 Pre-K.  Then I moved to Chicago and spent two years teaching 6th grade and four years teaching 5th grade.  In 2009, I moved to Independence and have been teaching 3rd grade ever since.  I completed my Master's Degree through Morningside University and continue to be a life-long learner.  My husband, Rusty, and I have three girls - Mallory is 12 years old, Lucy and Birdie are 2 years old.  We love our girls!  Independence is a wonderful community and I am proud to be a Mustang!
