West Elementary is an amazing place to work! This is my eighteenth year in the district and I feel blessed to be able to work with the students, families, and staff.

Educational Experience:

  • I have taught fifth, third and most recently, fourth grade, prior to becoming an instructional coach last school year.
  • I attended the University of Northern Iowa where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in reading in 1994.
  • In 2010 I earned my Master's Degree in Education from Morningside College.
  • In the summer of 2017, I completed my Advanced Studies Certificate in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Iowa. As you can see I am an avid learner!

Family

  • Outside of the classroom, I have six amazing children ages 26 to 15. I am also fortunate enough to have a step-son who still includes me in his family. This year I gained an honorary daughter, Paula Garcia, a foreign exchange student from Madrid, Spain.
  • I've been blessed with 4 grandchildren and 2 more honorary grandchildren.
  • Rounding out my family is my dog, Faolan, a German Shepard-Husky mix. All together they keep me happy and on my toes.

I enjoy reading, gardening, spending time with family and friends. I am always excited to learn new things.
