This website represents a comprehensive 3 Tiers (progressive layers of challenge) independent study resource for those IAU medical students and other International Medical Graduate (IMG) physicians preparing to sit for the United States Medical Licensing Examination Step 1.
Tier 1: The Flash Facts Review provide a deep layered subject-based global assessment of your overall re-collection and fund of knowledge in the core basic medical science disciplines covered during the course of the foundational years (MS1 and MS2). Of course when you encounter information you did not know or don't recall learning, it means you should be particularly sure to re-visit that information in your detail study program timeline using the other tools and resources provided. (Note: You can use the hypertext guide below to immediately open full screen pop-outs of lessons or, to remain within the site you can access individual lessons by using the drop-down of the Home Menu above. )
Tier 2: The First Aid for the USMLE Step 1 Review Series, including the Review Text, the Q&A Book and two Video Series. It is suggested that this review data be cross studied using USMLE Step 1 Secrets Review Book( Tiers 2.1-2.4).
Tier 3: USMLE World Step 1 QBank
The IAU Knowledge Base Guide should be access for detail review of any concept or mechanism requiring detailed attention. The guide is organized based on and including the USMLE Step 1 Learn Objectives and has Dual (Discipline and Organ -System) Tracks.
Each of of the e-book provided contains a hypermedia table of contents for ease of navigation. In order to open the TOC version of the Text simply pop-out the document from the upper right-hand corner of the reader and then open in the PDF reader App. of your choice. This means you should have a Google account and are using this program signed in to that account. Once you land on the pop-out preview page you can select your App or add an App from the "Open with" drop-down at the top center of the preview page. I recommend the PDF Viewer app (You may need to add the App first).
NB: A multi-pronged review such as provided on this website contains all one should require to perform well on the USMLE Step 1; assuming successful completion of a solid basic sciences program of course. Please keep in mind, however, it is more beneficial to consume one review resource completely and as intended by its author(s), as oppose to being compelled to study multiple resources, but only incompletely.
Finally, for those requiring additional inspiration, motivation and (or) a jump-starting, individualized Webcam facilitated USMLE Step 1 tutorials are available with myself or another designated Faculty tutor. One BMS Unit is usually 4 hr. and General Principles and some Organ Systems require multiple units to complete. An Integrated high-yield focus in Biochemistry/Molecular/Cell Biology, Microbiology/Immunology, the 4 P’s (Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pathology and Pharmacology), as well as Introduction to Clinical Medicine are offered. If you are interested in reviewing any of the subjects or topics herein with a personal Faculty tutor or you are in need of assistance formulating a customized review plan and (or) study timeline, please contact me at mcray@iau.edu.lc to schedule a conference.
Please enjoy your review studies and I wish you all the best. All questions, comments and suggestions are welcome.
