Attending school has always meant very much to me and I have enjoyed learning new things each day. I graduated from Buena Vista University in Storm Lake with a BA in elementary education and a minor in coaching. I have my early childhood, reading, and early childhood special education endorsements from the University of Northern Iowa. In December 2009, I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching online from the University of Saint Mary. I continue to also further my learning by attending conferences, seminars and workshops.
I moved to Iowa Falls in 1999 and started my teaching career in the Iowa Falls School District as a classroom associate and then taught Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), Inclusive Preschool, First grade, Resource Room, and Reading Recovery. I have been teaching first grade for 13 years and will be starting my 23rd year of teaching in the Iowa Falls-Alden school district.
I have been married for 25 years to my husband,Robert. He works at the State Training School in Eldora as a budget analysts. We have two children, Rose, 23 years old, and Nic, 20 years old. Rose attends ECC and is in the LPN program and Nic is attending Simpson College majoring in Economics and Finance. As a family we enjoy watching movies, playing pickle ball, or watching our son Nic play football at Simpson! My husband and I enjoy traveling. I enjoy gardening, running, shopping, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
My first love is working with children and learning new things each day!
