We suggest using the Google Workspace Learning Centre as a starting point for finding information and learning the best practises for setting up and using Google Workspace.
On the home page of that resource you will see "Chrome Browser" under the "Learn by product" menu item. There is a lot of useful content there, but to get started quickly, you will want to go to the section Getting Started with Chrome Browser that explains how to install and set up the browser.
Step 1 - Install Chrome Browser (skip if already installed)
We suggest using Chrome Browser for all your browser-based Google Workspace interaction as it integrates best with the Google Workspace suite of products.
For those of you will ignore going to read these how-tos, see below for the direct link to installing Chrome Browser.
If you do not have Chrome Browser installed, you can download it from Google Chrome Home by selecting "Download Chrome". Note that if you have Chrome Browser installed, you can also update it from the page by selecting "I want to update Chrome".
Step 2 - Set up Chrome Browser (skip if already set up with a profile and know how to sign in)
This support article is an excellent guide for setting up your Chrome browser once you have installed it.
Using the same list on that page, the first thing you need to do during the set up is to sign in by following the how to under "2.1 Identify which account you're in".
Step 3 - Log In
If you are a student, you must sign in with the username g00a0000@campus.ru.ac.za and the password that was provided to you at registration. If you are a staff member you will use your Initial.Surname@ru.ac.za email address as the username and the password you were supplied when you joined the university.
Both staff and students can go to ROSS to reset a forgotten password.
We strongly advise you to set up a profile specifically and exclusively for your Rhodes University Google Workspace account using the "2.2 Create Chrome Browser profiles" how to.
Using the Menu System
On the left of the page is a menu system.
Selecting a right-pointing arrow will expand that menu item to show the hierarchy of information under it.
Selecting a downward-pointing arrow will collapse that section.
