Attendance: Attendance is critical to the success of each member and of the ensemble. While we have an attendance policy, it boils down to this: We need each member at each rehearsal. Yes, you can split time with another activity (as long as you have communicated it in writing at least a week in advance), but performances should not be missed. Once August rolls around, marching band should be treated like any other Varsity level activity; vacations in August are not acceptable for missing a rehearsal or a performance.
Financial: Money should never be a reason to not do marching band. We will work with families to give every student the opportunity to be in the HMB. If you find yourself in a situation where money is an issue, talk to McCarthy sooner than later. Basically, the financing falls into two categories: Uniforms and Travel Expenses. All members will need to address the Uniform Fees and Travel Expenses.
Uniform costs: Each member will need to pay a $25 uniform fee. Additionally, members will need the following items:
Marching Shoes - $40
HMB T-shirt - $15
HMB Shorts - $15
Duffle Bag - $35
Gloves - $5 (2 pair are recommended)
If you already own these items, you do not need to repurchase (unless your gloves are no longer white, or in one piece).
These fees will be due in May.
Travel expenses will cover Symposium and Whitewater. Total travel fees will be $450. ($225 due June 1 and $225 due August 1)
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask!
Thanks!
