I have been a part of Hillsboro School for my entire life. I attended Hillsboro from kindergarten through high school and graduated in 1994. After finishing my undergrad degree from UMSL in 2000, I came back to my home town school and have been here ever since. I have a degree in English certification for grades 9-12, Middle School Language Arts for grades 5-9, and a in Library Science. I have a Masters in Education and a Masters in Education Technology.
I completely understand the life of a busy family. I have been married for 18. years and have 2 daughters. It seems we are always running somewhere to this or that activity. Even our dog keeps us on our toes.
The English I course is the equivalent to the 9th grade English course and is worth 1 High School English credit. Students in this course will do an in-depth study of short stories, novels, and informational text. Students will also develop and expand essay and analytical writing.

In the ELA 8 course, students study elements of short stories, novels, and informational text. In writing, students will expand their writing to write more complex paragraphs, basic essays, and stories.
