My name is Nathan Evans, and I was born and raised in this beautiful town of Santa Barbara. In fact, as a child I went to Monte Vista Elementary School, where I had two of the best teachers of my life--my dad, Bill Evans in 5th grade and Harriet Bender in 4th grade. Beyond legends they inspired me more than words may convey. I moved on to La Colina Junior High, and then attended both San Marcos and Santa Barbara High Schools (GO DONS!) Afterwards, I went to UCSB, where I majored in Cultural Anthropology and Spanish. Following graduation, I moved to Mexico to become fluent in Spanish. I lived in Puerto Vallarta for 5 years, teaching in and then directing the English Department for The University of Guadalajara. My educational journey continued at Azusa Pacific University, where I completed a Master's Degree in Teaching and (nearly finished) a second degree in Administration. As a lifelong learner, my next step will be obtaining a Doctorate someday. For now? I love to travel! My favorite activities here in town include fishing, island hopping, surfing, riding my moto, swimming, hiking and playing with my dog Reef. I have been teaching since 1995 and am experienced with grades 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6. It has been an amazing experience working with the children of such a wonderful community, and there is no place I'd rather be than here at Vieja Valley, inspiring our kids and making school fun!
