STAIR Program

Dear Parents and Students, 

This summer, the Hopedale High School Tri-M Music Honor Society will be offering free music instruction. This program will allow qualified active members of the Hopedale High School Tri-M Music Honors Society to mentor younger students with lessons on Wednesdays between 9am and 2pm. These lessons will be conducted at the Hopedale Elementary School (6 Prospect St).

During these lessons, students will be able to develop skills and techniques while learning from an upperclassman (who can  serve as a role model for academic and musical success). The Tri-M Honors Society is very excited to take on this task and have the opportunity to help younger students learn and grow as musicians. The lessons will be offered to all students enrolled at Hopedale Public Schools who are entering grades 6-9 in the fall. The program will run weekly on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm through the month of July.

The success of your child will be directly affected by practice at home. Students will be given specific assignments each week by the student teachers. Please help us by encouraging your child to practice on a regular basis. During the summer months, 30 minutes a day is recommended.  Mr. Beaudry will be on-site visiting the lessons to oversee the program. Students are responsible for bringing pencil, lesson books, their assigned music, and an instrument to their lesson each week. 

We will also be offering small ensemble or group lesson opportunities for those who indicate interest. Small ensembles are an excellent way to build interpersonal relationship skills and have fun playing music with others. Students will choose music with their student-teacher and we will create arrangements designed to match the skills of the individual performers. The purpose of this program is to foster a mentorship program with healthy relationships between students from both schools and a safe learning environment that encourages students to enjoy learning music.
