G’day Homes of a Terrific Tigers!
My name is Chad Klein and I will be working with your child this year in K- Grade 5 Physical Education. I am in 27th year of teaching. I bring experience, enthusiasm, humour, faith, expectations and a love of teaching to the classroom, the school and the community.
I look at this school year as one being filled with success, patience, cooperation, and many positive experiences in the classroom and in the community for the students. I believe it is important that students are coming to school with a positive attitude and are ready to give their best each and every day. With these as part of their “Tool Box of Success” we will be able to build a strong community within the classroom filled with many worthwhile achievements.
I am looking forward to seeing their maturity and positive leadership skills shine at St. Michael's as the students grow and learn.
Class Behavior
The students will be expected to follow the St. Michael’s Code of Conduct and Classroom Responsibility Plan at all times.
Within the class, the students will be discussing the rules and will help to create the consequences and the rewards that will be used during the year in our Classroom Responsibility Plan. I believe it’s important for students to build a sense of value and at the same time be ready to accept responsibility for their actions and their behaviour. As such, the rules will reflect this and the students will be held accountable for their actions and their behaviour. You, as parents, will be notified by myself or the school administration of any constant behaviour problems or any severe behaviour problems so that we may try and work together to help your child get back on the path to success. I also believe it’s important to reward positive behaviour and I look forward to reporting more good things to you than negative, seeing how I know my class is full of angels and saints (probably just like they are at home;).
Academics
This year we will be experiencing many new, fun, and educational activities while working towards outcome achievement. In working towards their outcomes there are many different ways for the students to show understanding of the outcome. As such, there is still feedback for the students to help them achieve personal success. I know we will work hard to have a successful year. The work will be done independently and cooperatively throughout the year thus giving the students the experience to work cooperatively with a variety of students.
In regards to outcomes – if a child fails to reach the outcome for that assignment and has put in the effort and energy then they will be given an opportunity to review their feedback and set a plan to reach that outcome with final approval made at the teacher’s discretion. This plan will take place with the work being done outside of class time. If the student fails to meet their deadline then at the teacher’s discretion a new plan will be made and the home will be informed. If late work becomes a habit then the student will not have the option to make their own plan and the teacher will decide when and where all further late assignments will be completed.
Phone Calls- As class time is very important, phone calls will be connected to the classroom only in emergencies. Otherwise, please leave a message with our secretary and your child will be able to phone at their earliest convenience. Thank you for respecting my right to teach and your child’s right to learn.
Vacations during school time- Enjoy the trip and they’ll catch up when they return. Of course, your child will be missing very important instruction & discussion.
