Grading

Bienvenue! Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year. You are about to begin or continue a journey learning about the language, the people, and the culture of the Francophone world.

Here are some basic course guidelines and expectations to help you along the journey.

We will be reading, writing, speaking, and listening to French. We will also be learning about francophone countries and cultures. The most important element is to participate in class, especially in speaking. It will make the MOST difference in the amount of French you are able to learn. Consistent daily practice is the best-proven method of language retention. Learning a language is a SKILL, much like cooking, riding a bike, or driving a car. I believe that anyone can learn French as long as they are committed.

Classroom Policies (Students please review the 6 P’s we covered on the first day of school with your parents .)

To ensure we share an environment most conducive to learning, please enter the room quietly, write down homework and follow the directions posted on the board. If you finish early, please wait quietly for Mme Thapa to begin class. Before leaving class, make sure you understand the homework, wait for the signal from Mme that class had ended, and quietly push in your chair. Lost and found is on the black filing cabinets.

Homework: All assignments, posted daily on my website by grade, will receive full credit if received on time and completed with care. Late homework (without parental note) will receive half credit the next day. Students can plan on around 15 -20 minutes of homework which includes studying their vocabulary handouts and lists posted on Quizlet.com.

Absences: When you are absent, it is your responsibility to talk to me, inquire about, and complete all missed work. Missed or failed tests and quizzes must be made up within two weeks. It is your responsibility to come for extra help to review missed work or concepts you find challenging.

Supplies: Please bring the following materials to class everyday: 3 ring 1 ½-2 inch binder with subject dividers, white lined paper, pencils, colored pen and/or highlighter.
