We will be reading and focusing on a story each week and have vocab and comprehension assessments on Friday.  Vocab words will come home on Mondays to study! This week’s story is The Polar Bear Son.  We will be talking about synthesizing. 

We will be talking about adverbs and adjectives this week. 

We are starting Topic 10. This topic is very short and involves multiplying by multiples of 10, i.e. 40 x 8.  I have also moved our ice cream sundae reward to January 23rd.  We have not had much time to do the fact sets in class and wanted to give students more time to master them! 

We are continuing our unit on rocks and minerals.  This unit lasts quite a while because we do some exploring and investigating of rocks and minerals in the classroom! 

We will be starting concept 64.  This concept deals with the ou ow diphthong.  Students have an info page at the front of their binder to help them practice this concept throughout the week.  We will have a pretest over words that use this concept on Thursday.  Final test is on Friday.  If your child gets a 100%, they do not have to take the final test on Friday!
