Read these instruction in your student handbook Pg 20 and sign your name with date if you agree to obey the lab rules and regulation

Discipline in the laboratory
1. Do not enter or work in the lab unless a teacher is present, or unless you have the permission to do so for a particular purpose.
2. All lab apparatus and chemicals are not allowed to be taken out of the lab without prior permission from the teacher.
3. To instil safe and appropriate handling of equipment in the lab, in the event of loss or damage, the student/class will be held responsible and a fine will be imposed. Thiswill be recorded in a book to be signed by the student and teacher.
4. The storerooms and preparation rooms are out of bounds to all students. You may enter the rooms only when directed by the teacher.
5. Always work quietly and thoughtfully. Horseplay, practical joking and other acts of carelessness are strictly prohibited. Remember at all times, that the lab is a place for serious work. Any unruly behaviour will be taken as a discipline case.
6. Do not store, prepare or consume food and drinks (including plain water) in the lab.
Safety in the laboratory
1. Always wear safety spectacles or goggles when mixing, heating or handling chemicals.
2. Never use cracked/broken glassware or faulty equipment. Report any damaged apparatus, bottles or containers you see in the lab.
3. Never pipette poisonous substances, hot solutions or corrosive liquids by mouth. Use a pipette filler instead.
4. Keep long hair tied up neatly while in the laboratory.
5. Pay careful attention to safety instructions given by the teacher and obey these instructions. Instructions for the performance of an experiment should be thoroughly understood and must be followed exactly. In case of doubt, DO NOT PROCEED. Ask your teacher.
6. Chemicals and apparatus should be returned to their proper place after use.
7. Use test tube holders to hold the test tubes when handling or heating chemicals during experiments.
8. Chemicals once removed from the bottles must not be put back into the bottles, unless instructed to do so by the teacher.
9. Always carry out experiments involving poisonous gases in the fume cupboard.
10. Never use flammable liquids near a flame or fire.
11. Never taste chemicals or other materials.
12. Remove broken glass from the bench or the floor, with a brush and dustpan.
Place the broken glass in the bin provided.
13. Report all accidents and spillage immediately to the teacher.
14. Glowing/lighted wooden splints must be extinguished before being placed in the waste box.
15. Leave all bags outside the lab or neatly arrange them on either side in front of the lab as instructed by the teacher.
