What is the IRMAA amount?
Income Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (referred to as IRMAA) is charged by Medicare for high income earners based on filing status and income band two years prior. This amount can be objected to and changed by following the procedure in the letter you received from the Social Security Administration in November/December. If you object or SSA changes your Medicare Premium, the total amount you paid for Medicare will be shown on your SSA-1099. For 12 months, it is one of 6 numbers. If there are inconsistencies, we will ask for additional documentation. Your full Medicare Premium is reimbursed to you - this includes the Standard and IRMAA portions.
NOTE: Medicare Part D IRMAA Premiums are not reimbursed.
