Students in grades 4th-8th receive a grade for work completed in the Technology Lab. We strive to introduce projects and assignments that align with the ISTE (International Society of Technology in Education) Standards. Clicking on the logo will bring you to the link for standards.
Today’s students must be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape. The ISTE Standards for Students are designed to empower student voice and ensure that learning is a student-driven process. Connect with other educators in the ISTE Standards Community and learn how to use the standards in the classroom with the ISTE Standards for Students ebook.
All students will be graded as follows:
40% based on compliance with class rules, following directions and effort in attempting the assignment.
40% based on assigned projects There will be multiple projects per term and may be in collaboration with other academic classes. Grades for collaborative projects are based on the use of technology (which would include spelling and grammar check) and aesthetic results. Projects in coordination with curricular classes may require students to complete work outside of class time.
20% based on care of device per the technology agreement:
4 - Student consistently uses their case and has a device with no damage. Student adheres to Technology Use Agreement.
3 - Student needs to be reminded to use their case or to carry the chromebook only when closed. Student has had 2 occurances of not having their device charged. Student may have caused accidental, mild damage but the device is still fully functioning. Student adheres to Technology Use Agreement.
2 - Student needs constant reminders to use case or has removed the case. Students device has not been charged on more than 3 occasions. Student has been in violation of the Technology Use Agreement more than one time. Student caused damage that affects the use of the device.
1 - Student has been in violation of the Technology Use Agreement multiple times or has caused damage to the device rendering it not repairable or not usable by another student.
All technology graded work takes place during special time. Homework for collaborative projects are the responsibility of the student and may be assigned from the academic teacher. Students who frequently miss class will need to see me for the opportunity to make up class work. Students that visit the resource room will have appropriately modified assignments, additional time or assistance as needed.
