Weekly Update

Week of May 1st:

• Exploring the letter Yy to include /y/ 

• ASL sign for the letter Yy  and words beginning with  Y : you, yo-yo and yogurt.

• Reintroduce the number 10: groups of ten. Show # 10in different ways: numeral, tally marks, ten frame, dice, dominos, picture, and word. Counting to ten in Eng/Sp/ Japanese.

• Weather: to include weather for each day. Appropriately dress frog each day according to the weather,  sing weather song, Discuss the day's weather.

• Calendar: Sing months of the year song, Introduce the current month in Eng./Sp,

Sing days of the week song. Establish what day it is currently. Discuss what day it was yesterday and what day it will be tomorrow. Count the days on the calendar. 

• Seasons of the year: sing song. Discuss what season we are currently in and which season comes next. Signs of each season.  

• Colors: explore the colors of the month: yellow and purple. Show examples of each color. Discuss names of the colors in Sp/Eng. Review other colors SP/Eng.

• Shape: Introduce the octagon shape.

• Music and Motion: Freeze Dance, listen and move song, Beanie bag dance.

• Songs: Twinkle Twinkle to include signs. Itsy Bitsy Spider, Mother's Day Songs

• Let's Pretend: Let's go on a picnic.

• Crafts: Begin Mother's Day 

• Fine motor skills: practice tracing/writing letter Yy, letter Yy coloring pages, What belongs where? , more complex sequencing, Dot Art Letter Y, Letter Y seek and find, What begins or ends with letter Yy.
