Kindergarten Learning Goals

Learning Goals for the Year:
Reading:
Develop phonemic awareness, learn the letter sounds, read 25 sight words, and read independently at a level 3.
Writing:
Letter formation, writing from left to right and top to bottom, penmanship, writing 3 complete sentences with correct spacing, capitalization, and punctuation.

Math:
1. Recognize and write numbers 0 to 20, problem solving, patterns, shapes, measurement, time, count to 100, addition and subtraction.

  2. Understand our place in the community, learn about community helpers, holidays, and American symbols .
  3. Science:
  4. Learn about engineering design, changes in the environment, seasons, weather, water, plants, and animals.
2. Listening:
3. Remember and follow verbal directions. Practice answering questions and being polite listeners.
4. Speaking:
5. Participate in group discussions, share ideas, recognize questions versus statements.
