This letter is to inform you of important things that you will need to know about our Kindergarten Program. Included are: our schedule, volunteer information, snack and lunch information, and my classroom management program.
Daily Schedule
My daily schedule begins with calendar activities and review of basic concepts. I will also be explaining our day’s schedule to the students. Starting in a few days, we will be having centers from 9:30 to 11:00. These consist of 6 groups of 4 students that rotate every 15 minutes to a different activity. I encourage parent volunteers for center time (more information on this later in letter).
Snack is from 11:00 to 11:30 everyday. Please send a nutritional snack and a drink for your child that is separate from their lunch (starting on week 3). The students eat first and then play. Snack should be small and easy to eat so that the students have time to play. Please explain that snack and lunch are two different things. We don’t want your child to eat their whole lunch at snack time and then be without a lunch at lunchtime. I encourage you to supply your child with a water bottle everyday. Please make sure their name is on anything that is sent to school.
Writing is from 11:30 to 12:00 and Math is from 12:00 to 12:40. I try to stay on the same schedule as much as possible because kids love consistency in their routine.
Remember that Wednesdays are short days. Regular pick up is at 11:45 and extended day is 2:25.
Lunch
Lunch (starting on week 3) is from 12:40 to 1:30. Lunch costs $2.50 per day and we have a new app that is available to put $ on account for your child. The app is called Pay Pems. There is information regarding this app in the front office. I would say it’s easier for students to bring lunch because the line to get lunch can be long and takes away from time they can play with their classmates. Each child has their own personal lunch number and I will make sure they have their number each day that they get hot lunch.
Parent Volunteers
There are no parent helpers the first 2 weeks so that we can establish a routine and get to know each other. I encourage everyone to be approved, so that when events like fieldtrips come up, everyone is able to attend. I prefer to have help on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:00 for center time. Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering. Volunteering forms are in the front office.
Classroom Rules
I have a system that allows parents to see how their child’s day has been each day. All students start on green each day. They go to yellow if they had to be reminded several times about their poor choices in class. If the student has an exceptionally bad day, they will have to go to red. I will be sending home a WOBBLE note (working on better behavior) explaining what the day’s difficulties were. I give hand stamps each day (2 stamps on one hand means the child stayed on green all day, 1 stamp means they had to change to yellow, and 0 stamps means you should look in the backpack for a note and probably an e-mail from me). If you need to e-mail me at anytime, my e-mail is Tracy.Green@hesperiausd.org. I check my e-mail several times a day, so it’s the best way to contact me.
Names
Please make sure that your child’s name is on everything (backpacks, lunch boxes, jackets, etc.)
Supplies and Donations
I will provide supplies for the beginning of the year, but your child should have pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue at home for homework (starting in a few weeks).
We will need donations of: baby wipes, glue sticks, plastic bags of all sizes, water bottles, playdough, prizes for the prize box, and snacks.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I appreciate when parents let me know if there are any school or home incidents that could cause any behavior or health issues with their child.
I know this is a lot of information! I will put this note on my website so that it is available to review. I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher. I hope Kindergarten is an awesome experience for your child!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Green

We have 3 important school rules: Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful. These rules need to be followed in the classroom, in the cafeteria, and the playground. Your child's daily behavior will determine how many hand stamps they earn each day.
2 stamps= great day
1 stamp= Teacher had to remind me several times about my behavior
0 stamps= Look for a note in my backpack or watch for an email from Mrs. Green
Your child may wear a tee shirt with their favorite college logo on Fridays!
Please contact me if you would like to discuss your child's progress.
