The HMS Databases have been carefully selected to support research and learning across all subject areas.  These databases should be the FIRST PLACE students look to find reliable and accurate information.  I am available for research help by appointment during your lunch periods.

When you access the Databases from home, you will need the passwords to get into the password page.   Click the link below and type in the "magic word".   Here is a clue - m****e.

   Once you type that in you get a list of all of the Databases usernames and passwords.

Black Freedom -  Featuring select primary source documents related to critical people and events in African American history. This database's intention is to support anyone interested in learning more about the foundation of ongoing racial injustice in the U.S. – and the fights against it.

Britannica - A source for all grades (Pre-K-12) and all reading abilities.

Gale In Context - Made specifically for middle school students.  This database has thousands of non-fiction articles, videos and materials that cover all subject areas. 

This is one of the first places you should look when you start a project. 

 

Gale Culinary Arts - Find a variety of information from major cooking and nutrition magazines as well as key reference titles. 

 

Gale Opposing Viewpoints - Contains a range of perspectives on many important issues, with over 13,000 pro/con viewpoints.  Includes a variety of resource types: reference, news, primary sources, multimedia and more.  

 

Infobase African-American History - This database provides students with information including primary sources, articles, videos and other materials that highlight the history of African-Americans. 


Infobase American History - This database provides students with information including primary sources, videos and other materials that chronicle the entire span of our nation's history.

 

Infobase American Indian History - This database provides students with information including primary sources, videos and other materials that chronicle the history of the American Indian. 

 

Kids DiscoverThis simple-to read and use database has information for every subject you study in school. 

 

Kids Infobits - Contains EASY TO READ information about all subjects.  You can also find Merriam-Webster's Elementary Dictionary, maps, flags, seals, charts and graphs. 

 

News Stand - InfoTrac Newsstand is an innovative Web-based full-text newspaper database which allows users to search for articles instantly by title, headline, date, newspaper section or other assigned fields. 

 

New York State Newspapers - Search this database of newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post.


New York Times - Browse The New York Times by subject to find articles for projects.

 

Noodletools - This database can be used to help your store and organize your research for all of your projects as well as help you to create your bibliographies.


Popular Magazines Popular Magazines includes 1000 of the most searched magazines across our country.  Titles like Consumer Reports, Time, National Geographic, The New Yorker, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, US News and World Report, Vogue, Fortune, Business Week, National Review, Cosmopolitan, NPR and even Oprah are included in this database.

 

World Almanac For Kids - This all-inclusive resource is a great place for students to find information on every subject as well as homework help and project ideas.  


World Book Online  - This amazing resource gives students 24 hour access to the entire World Book Online Encyclopedia as well as 15 other research tools.  This should be one of your first stops when beginning a research project for a class. This is one of the first places you should look when you start a project.
