Social Host

What is a “Social Host”?

A “social host” can be an adult or juvenile who hosts a party, gathering, or event where underage drinking is occurring with consent or non consent on property they own or control.

If youth are drinking on your property, do all that you can to end it and build your defense: take reasonable steps to prevent an underage person from possessing or consuming alcohol.

Delaware County passed a Social Host ordinance in 2011 and it is a criminal offense if you are charged. The first offense is a $500 fine plus applicable surcharges and court costs, with the 2nd offense at $625.

Do yourself and your teen a favor by being the parent that says "No."
