What other items do I need to bring? Bring a bathing suit, tennis shoes, sports clothes, and cap/hat for field trips. It is hot during these days, so daily attire may be a short sleeve collar shirt (polo) and bermuda shorts (athletic shorts are permitted). Bring extra spending cash (around USD$200) for souvenirs or for any other expenses not included in the tuition. Important: bring one pair of long pants, one button shirt and a tie (no coat needed). We will have an elegant awards dinner celebration on the last day.
What is the daily dress code? Some institutional visits require pants and a collared shirt. On school days, bermuda shorts and a collared shirt are preferred. Comfortable shoes are also preferred. It is Summer-time, so it is hot (between 75 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit/24-38 Celsius).
Can I bring my laptop, tablet, cellphone or any other similar type device, including gaming consoles? To enrich the students' experience during the program, the use of any of these devices is NOT permitted unless expressly authorized by the program director. We may require a student to "turn-in" the device if necessary and we reserve the right to return it when appropriate. It is the responsibility of the teacher-chaperone to monitor and enforce our rules regarding this matter. At the hotel, it is at the discretion of the teacher-chaperone to enforce these rules as he deems appropriate.
Health Insurance. All students must have a health insurance policy that covers them in the event something requires medical attention. You must remit this information to The Heights Program manager prior to arrival. Each teacher chaperone must also have this information handy, including any deductible monies needed and pertinent phone numbers. You can find multiple options at www.insubuy.com or www.ism.com. We are not affiliated to these companies in any way. We know of past students who have utilized these companies and they have worked very well. You are free to pick any health insurance plan you wish as long as the student is fully covered and we, The Heights School, have no liability.
