LEARNING SKILLS

Below are our co-created success criteria for learning skills. The expectation is that each student checks in monthly and completes a self-assessment checklist to track their growth for the 2021-22 school year.

Responsibility:

    • I will work hard to get my work done

    • I will do my best work

    • I will return homework and notes on time

    • I am responsible for my own actions and behaviour

    • I apologize when I make mistakes or hurt others

    • I follow rules and class agreements

    • I consider the consequences of my actions

    • I know that my decisions and actions have an impact on others

Organization:

    • I will have the tools I need to do my work ready to go

    • I will use my time wisely

    • I will keep my desk and work books neat and tidy

    • I manage and organize information

    • I complete tasks on time

    • I use a variety of strategies (graphic organizers)

    • I use my agenda

    • I write down all important dates

    • I follow a plan to complete an assigned task

Independent Work:

    • I will listen attentively so that I know what to do

    • I will follow instructions

    • I will think about my work and try it before I ask for help

    • I will focus on my work and let others focus on their work

    • I work quietly and limit social distractions

Collaboration:

    • I will share ideas and materials in a nice way

    • I will speak politely to others

    • I will do my share of the work when working in groups

    • I invite the ideas and opinions of others

    • I respect the ideas and opinions of others

    • I am able to see both sides of a conflict and can solve it in a mature way

    • I enjoy working as part of a team and being part of a learning community

Initiative:

    • I will try new things with a positive attitude

    • I will show interest in learning

    • I will help myself and others to do their best

    • I seek opportunities to learn new skills

    • I go above and beyond

    • I like to be original

    • I take risks

    • I am curious

    • I do things without being asked

    • I am a leader

Self-Regulation:

    • I will work hard to meet the class learning goals and my personal goals

    • I will use criteria to help me reach my goals

    • I will ask questions when I need help

    • I set challenging goals for myself

    • I view challenges as a positive opportunity

    • I make choices that help me achieve my goal
