The STEAM Fair is open to all TK-5 students.

Participation is optional.

Students can work individually, with a partner, or in a group of up to four people. Sibling groups and groups of students from different grade levels are fine. Family and adult participation are encouraged, as long as the students take an active role in the project and can describe the process and/or outcomes.

All projects must submit IDEA FORM no later than 3/17/25 in order to participate. This form is absolutely necessary in order for the STEAM Fair Committee to review the projects.

Please refer to the 2025 STEAM Fair Project Guidelines, Descriptions, and Rubric when completing your project.

We also wanted some exciting changes for 2025

1) For TK and Kinder families, we will be offering the option of tackling a "guided" project-- essentially, a packet your child can follow to conduct a simple experiment at home. The packets include worksheets where kids can write out or draw a picture of their hypotheses and results. These sheets can then be glued to a ti-fold board and displayed at the fair. Reach out to the STEAM Team for more info.

2) For the first time ever, this year's fair also features a Design Challenge Category.

The Challenge: North School is hoping to apply for a Green Ribbon Award next year, which would highlight the work our school does regarding sustainability. In many classrooms, however, there are no compost bins for items like paper towels. We also throw away items like pencils that it would be possible to recycle. For this year's design challenge: Come up with a new classroom-based receptacle or waste station that could help tackle this issue. If possible, test your design in your classroom and observe the results!
