Curriculum
Curriculum standards encompass the knowledge and skills that students are expected to learn throughout the school year. These are shared goals and expectations within each grade level that help to guide instruction and assessment. The learning outcomes listed are what students should know and be able to do by the end of the school year.
Fifth graders are challenged to reflect and analyze deeply, as they build upon foundational skills taught in previous grades, and learn in more sophisticated ways to develop critical thinking and understanding skills.
The workshop model is followed within many core subjects to ensure that instruction fits to individual student needs. Through teacher facilitation, student choice guides learning, as fourth graders work in small groups and stations to learn specific content and enhance skills.
