Hello and welcome to my Virtual Classroom!
I am one of three Academic Support teachers here at Crocker, and work with a mix of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This will be my eleventh year in this role. For the first seven years, my teaching partner was Mrs. Struble -- one of the most capable and committed educators I have worked with in any capacity -- who now teaches second grade at South. My present-day collaborators on the Academic Support team are Ms. Jones-Lam, who is notable for her expertise in reading interventions and the kindness with which she treats students, and Mrs. Obias-Enrique, who has distinguished herself through the dedication, imagination, insight, and patience that characterizes her work as a practitioner.
Additionally, our team will continue to provide co-teaching support in selected core classes. Mrs. Obias-Enrique will co-teach a 6th-grade English class (in partnership with Ms. Karagan) and I will co-teach two Math classes (a 6th-grade class with Mr. Kittredge, and a 7th-grade class with Mrs. Gribble).
With all of the above in place, Ms. Jones-Lam, Mrs. Obias-Enrique, and I -- along with the talented crew of aides, paraprofessionals, and other service providers that help us address our charges' needs -- will be able to guide and support students across a wide range of settings.
More personally, I am looking forward to reconnecting with my 7th-grade and 8th-grade students, getting to know my incoming cohort of 6th graders and their families, and working with all of them to successfully navigate the 2025-2026 academic year while making the most of its many opportunities.
Prior to my arrival at Crocker, I worked as a Special Education teacher and case manager in the San Mateo Union High School District, most notably in assignments at Mills High School and Burlingame High School. I have also served as a member of SMUHSD's Summer School and Extended School Year (ESY) faculties, experiences which have afforded me a deeper understanding of the standards, curriculum, and other expectations my students should be prepared for as they transition from Crocker to high school.
I am a graduate of Notre Dame de Namur University’s Education Specialist Program, where I won an Outstanding Student Teaching Award en route to earning my Teaching Credential and Master’s Degree. In May 2025, I received a Certificate of Appreciation for my work at Crocker from the Community Advisory Committee of San Mateo County's SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) at their Inaugural Appreciation Event.
