ABOUT ME

Hello.

I can now say that I have 13 years under my belt teaching high school mathematics. It has been a great ride so far. I began my love for math when I was younger and found out I was very good at it in middle and high school. During my senior year, I decided that I loved my AP Calculus class so much, that I would join the Future Teachers of America and would pursue a career in teaching. From there, I went to Western Carolina University to get my Bachelors degree in Mathematics Education. During my student teaching, I was at Tuscola High School with the best teacher ever, Mr. Howard. With him, I taught Discrete Math, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus. I began teaching in 2005 at Franklin High School. It was a great place to start. I didn't have my own classroom and I wasn't in a normal setting during the first semester but the second semester, I had regular classes. I taught Technical Math 1, Technical Math 2, and Advanced Functions and Modeling. I also was the assistant coach for JV Softball. I only stayed at Franklin for a year until my grandfather got sick and then I moved back home to Canton to teach at Tuscola High School. There I taught a senior level math course, Technical Math 1, Technical Math 2, and Algebra 1. I also assistant coached the Volleyball team. I didn't feel like Tuscola was my home since I was a Pisgah Bear so after my first year there, I moved on to Smoky Mountain High School. I lived there for 6 years and loved all my coworkers and students. I also coached Softball for all of the 6 years I was there. I obtained my National Board Certification while teaching at Smoky Mountain. It was great but then I met the love of my life and had to move schools to be closer to my family and accepted a position here at West Henderson High School. I have taught Math 2, Honors Math 2, and Math 3 here at West. I love my job and my family tremendously. Everyday is a new adventure and I look forward to see what happens next. Here are just a few pictures of our adventures and what we are involved in.
