How to Apply
The 2021-2022 UH-OHA Ho'ona'auao Higher Education Scholarship application is administered through
the UH System Common Scholarship Application.

2021-2022 Program Eligibility:
Be of Native Hawaiian ancestry and be verified via one of the following:
OHA Hawaiian Registry Program ID Card;
Kamehameha Schools Hoʻoulu Hawaiian Ancestry Verification Letter;
Department of Hawaiian Homelands Verified Letter to confirm Waitlist/Lease Number of the applicant
Demonstrate financial need (verified through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Enrolled at any of the 10 UH System campuses (part-time or full-time);
Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA for undergraduate or 3.0 GPA for graduate students.
Priority Consideration will be given to applicants who meet the following:
Non-traditional students who meet one or more of the following:
Is considered financially independent for purposes of determining eligibility for financial aid;
Has dependents other than a spouse (usually children, but sometimes others);
Is a single parent (either not married or married but separated and has dependents);
First-generation college students;
Current 2020-2021 UH-OHA Scholars in good academic & program standing.
A complete application package includes:
Completed electronic UH System Common Scholarship Application;
Personal Statement (included in the electronic application);
One (1) Letter of Recommendation, minimum (submitted via the application where indicated);
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information (submitted via the application where indicated).
