Sachiko's Page

Hello, everyone! My name is Sachiko Kamioka. I'm from Ashikaga City in Tochigi Prefecture in Japan, which is located 60 miles north of Tokyo and where one of the oldest universities once stood. I studied at and worked for the University of Oregon for over ten years (Center for Applied Second Language Studies, one of the fifteen National Language Resource Centers just like NFLRC). So I am half Japanese and half Oregonian! I am currently a lecturer of Japanese at the University of California San Diego. I teach the first-year Japanese series and content-based courses for graduate students in the School of Global Policy and Strategy. I'm very excited to participate in the PBLL Intensive Summer Institute because I believe PBLL can provide with a pedagogical framework to redefine and expand my role as a world language teacher by connecting the student experience with community, content, and culture. When I am not teaching, I enjoy jogging, reading, and cooking. I am looking forward to working with you all!
