Where I'm from depends on how far we go... originally from western Argentina (Mendoza), with a deep appreciation for the Pacific Northwest, many years of influence from the Midwest (Iowa, to be precise), and currently in one of the most beautiful and inspiring places one can ever dream of.

I direct the Center for Language & Technology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and the Hawai‘i National Foreign Language Resource Center.

A key experience that has significantly influenced my philosophy of teaching and learning is learning languages as an adult and traveling to some of the places where those languages are spoken. Some of the key "isms" that have influenced my philosophy of teaching and learning are social constructivism, constructionism, and connectivism.

One thing that you should know about me is that I am a staunch supporter quality project-based language learning (PBLL) and that I firmly believe that language professionals as the ones attending this institute are best positioned to define and shape what can be described as quality PBLL.
