Harvard Eye Associates - COVID 19 - Precautions
Safety Protocol for Staff :
Everyone will have their temperatures checked via contactless infrared thermometers. This includes patients and staff. Please do not start your work until your temperature is checked.
Staff will be expected to wear masks while in the clinic interacting with one another
Steve will distribute masks depending on how closely staff are working with patients i.e. retina/glaucoma/optometric work up will receive surgical masks and cataract work up will receive N95 masks since that requires being closer to patients for extended periods of time
The work up station that was set up in the hallways will be dismantled and patients can be worked up in exam rooms since both staff and patients will have masks on while staff also wearing gloves. Additional measure below.
Chairs in the exam room have been pushed up against the wall. This is deliberate and please do not move them. This allows for maximum distance to be created between techs and patients.
Rooms must be cleaned between patients with 2% bleach solution and paper towels. These have already been premade and will be provided to staff.
Phoropters must be cleaned thoroughly as well between each patien
While working up patients, we will be leaving all exam room doors open. By leaving it open, we can avoid having to touch the door handle.
Visual field has been moved to room 25 at Laguna Hills. The staff member can start the test and move away from the patient.
Patients are not allowed to have family members with them unless they cannot physically move or have significant memory issues i.e. dementia. Under those conditions, only 1 member is allowed with proper PPE (personal protection equipment).
Any patient without a mask will not be allowed to keep their appointment. We will not be able to supply them with masks.
Front desk will continue their protocol of disinfecting clipboards, and using masks. They will also sign patients in on their behalf to avoid patients from using pens.
Front desk will continue to wipe down chairs every hour on the hour minimum
The chairs in the check in and check out have been spread out to be at least 6 feet apart and the carpet has been marked with blue tape. Please do not move these chairs close to each other.
Counselors will continue to clean the desks and chairs between patients and will have patients fill out paperwork ahead of time prior to coming to the clinic.
