Course Description:
Forensic science is a multidisciplinary applied science encompassing several sub-fields of biology, chemistry, physics, and crime science investigation (CSI). These sub-fields include genetics, toxicology, entomology, ballistics, pathology, computer forensics, and fire, debris and trace evidence. This course focuses on problem solving within an interdisciplinary scientific, relevant context.
Laboratory Experience:
A strong emphasis in Forensics is placed upon field and laboratory work. A large amount of class time will be dedicated to laboratory investigations and their analysis. Field and laboratory experiences accompanied by science process skills will be relied upon to complete the lab reports and detailed findings.
Grading:
Daily/Homework/Labs ......................................50%
Tests................................................................50%
Homework:
All assigned work is due when designated by the teacher.
Lab:
Each time we complete a lab, a lab report/worksheet will be turned in for each lab completed. All lab reports and worksheets will be completed using pencil. Most labs will also include important lab analysis for projects. It is important to keep up with everything you do in lab . Also, a lab quiz may be given, either before the lab or upon completion of the lab.
Tests:
At least three tests will be given each grading period.
Cheating:
Cheating will not be tolerated. If caught cheating, a zero will be given on the assignment or test.
Late Work:
Our late work policy is as follows:
1 Day Late = 30 points will be deducted
2 Days Late = 50 points will be deducted
3 Days Late = you will receive a zero for the assignment
Make-up Work:
It is your responsibility to get YOUR make-up work. All work must be turned in within three days of returning to school. If you miss a test, you must schedule a time to retake the test.
