WE MADE IT!!! The 2020-21 school year has been memorable for so many reasons. On August 12, 2020 HPS students were welcomed back into the school building after being absent for 150+ days. It was a new, uncertain and frightening time for all of us. Creating an educational environment that focused on keeping students and staff healthy and safe during a pandemic was (and continues to be) a daily challenge both physically and mentally. Thank you to all the Hampton Hawk families for supporting the staff and granting us grace throughout the past year. We were definitely “ALL IN THIS TOGETHER” and could not have done it without your support!

As we make plans to close the books on the unique 2020-21 school year, we have to bid farewell to two Hampton Hawk staff members. Deb Carlson is retiring after 28 years of service and Kelsey Gooder is moving on to a new school district. It is always hard to say goodbye, but we wish you both the best in this next chapter of your lives. The Board of Education has hired two new teachers to fill the vacant positions. Tayha Jerabek, originally from St. Paul, NE will be joining the elementary team as the new Kindergarten teacher and Megan Kemptar, originally from Cairo, NE will be Hampton’s new K-12 art teacher. We are excited to have these two ladies joining our Hampton Hawk Team!

The Hampton Board of Education is continuing to gather feedback regarding a future sports cooperative with High Plains Community Schools. The topic was a DISCUSSION item during both the March and April School Board meetings. At this time, the Board is planning to have a sports cooperative ACTION item on the May 10th Board agenda. Please take time to call, email, or visit personally with one or all of the School Board sports cooperative committee members (Grant Dose, Derek Klute, and Tamara Wiens) and the school’s administration. Our contact information can be located on the school’s homepage at www.hamptonhawks.us. We want and need to hear your feedback on the topic before May 10th!

Please make plans to celebrate the graduating class of 2021 on Saturday, May 8th @ 2:00 PM in the Hampton High School gym. The graduation ceremony will begin with a final “Hawk Walk” and “Ringing of the Bell”, as we bid farewell to this special group of eighteen seniors!

Just a reminder the school office hours during summer months will be 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday. If the office is closed and you need something, please feel free to email me at hherzberg@hamptonhawks.us. School will resume for all Hampton Public School students on Wednesday, August 11th. Have a GREAT summer break!
