Ms. LaBlanc's Website
Ms. LaBlanc is a teacher with many years of experience in the classroom teaching Family and Consumer Sciences. Currently a teacher at Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin, she was previously employed at Beloit Memorial in Beloit, Wisconsin and at Marshfield Senior and Middle Schools in Marshfield, Wisconsin.
She is a graduate of UW-Stout with a Bachelors degree in Family and Consumer Educational Services, k-12. She also has a Master's degree from UW-LaCrosse in Masters of Education-Professional Development.
At Hamilton, she is currently teaching the following courses: Transcripted Credit Medical Terminology and Transcripted Credit Intro to Health Careers. Second semester she will be teaching Transcripted Early Childhoood Development as well.
Ms. LaBlanc uses Google Classroom (https://classroom.google.com ) and Canvas (https://canvas.instructure.com ) as her learning management systems for her classes. Google classroom is for assignments and for classroom materials and Canvas will be specifically for testing and discussion purposes. Invite code is embedded in link to classroom.

Medical Terminology
This course provides students who are interested in medical and science careers the opportunity to learn terminology necessary in all areas of the medical field. Students will learn to spell, pronounce and define common medical terminology, abbreviations, and the component parts of medical terms: prefixes, suffixes and word roots.
Students will practice formation, analysis and reconstruction of terms. An introduction to operative, diagnostic, therapeutic and symptomatic terminology of body systems, as well as systemic and surgical terminology, is covered.
Culture of Healthcare
An introduction to the culture of healthcare for students interested in working in various healthcare settings. Learners examine professionalism, interpersonal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, and patient privacy and confidentiality issues as they relate to healthcare.
Learners will examine content and uses of health records while examining medical ethics and patient rights in relation to patient privacy and confidentiality issues.
