There are four 8th grade Enrichment courses that are being offered during Access Periods. Students and their families will be made aware by email when the sign-up window opens. There are no enrollment criteria beyond sincere interest in the course content and a strong work ethic. In the event that sign-ups exceed the maximum number of seats in a course, students will be selected by lottery for the available seats.
Philosophy
Students will learn about various branches of philosophical thought, ancient and contemporary philosophers, logic, ethics, and argument. This course will meet once every four days in Quarter 1.
Intro to Political Science
Students will be introduced to the discipline of political science, analyze how political decisions serve as a catalyst for world events, and examine the role of the individual in a political system. This course will meet once every four days in Quarter 2.
Current Events and Social Media
Students will explore a variety of current events hot topics and examine how Social Media influences perceptions of current events. This course will meet once every four days in Quarter 3.
The Individual in Society
Students will learn basic concepts of Psychology and Sociology and discover how these social sciences interact and overlap. This course will meet once every four days in Quarter 4.
