TI Nspire CX CAS II

AP Calculus requires the use of a graphing calculator. The TI-Nspire CX CAS II is the most up to date graphing utility. It functions more like a computer than a calculator. THe TI-Nspire CX CAS II is the update of the TI-Nspire CX CAS. Both models are comparable and will be used in class.

Students will use the TI-Npsire CAS connected to a TI-Nspire Navigator system in class to explore math concepts. While we will be using the TI-Nspire CX CAS in class, students may use any graphing calculator that meets the following requirements for homework and testing where a calculator is allowed:

    • Plot the graph of a function within an arbitrary viewing window

    • Find the zeros of functions (solve equations numerically)

    • Numerically calculate the derivative of a function

    • Numerically calculate the value of a definite integral

Students are allowed TWO calculators on their desks for all calculator sections on the AP exam. More information of graphing calculator use on the AP exam can be found at www.collegeboard.com

The CX Model is allowed on all standardized tests.

The CAS is not allowed on the ACT test.
