Application DUE Sept. 2nd

  • Are you taking Honors Spanish 5-6 or AP Spanish (Language or Literature) this year?

  • Have you already taken AP?

  • Were you in Spanish Honor Society last year and wish to continue?

Make sure you apply to be part of Sunnyslope's Spanish Honor Society!

From the AATSP Website:

"The SHH is an honor society for high school students enrolled in Spanish and/or Portuguese, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).

The SHH was formally organized as the Spanish National Honor Society in 1953. The name was changed to Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica in 1959. At present there are over 2,900 national and international chapters of the SHH.

The mission of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to recognize high school achievement in Spanish and Portuguese and to promote interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies."

*At Sunnyslope, we volunteer as Spanish translators (normally at Future Freshman Night and by translating documents throughout the year), we have Bilingual Cafe events with ELL students (English Language Learners), we make cards for hospital patients, we partner with a local elementary school as penpals, we join our student groups in campus-wide community service projects, we participate in Adopt-a-Family, and individual students find many more ways to volunteer in our community in meaningful ways using their Spanish.

Students maintain their status in our local organization by earning a certain number of points (1 point per hour of service) throughout the school year.

*Sunnyslope students who stay active in the Spanish Honor Society throughout their senior year will earn an honor cord at graduation.
