Freshman Orientation 2026
The West Hills Performing Arts Department has been incredibly lucky and blessed with outstanding student leadership over the past four years. With end of the 2026 school year, we want to shine a well-deserved spotlight on two phenomenal student-musicians who have left an indelible mark on our school community: Declan Mulrooney and Sophie Kwo.
To say Declan and Sophie are well-rounded would be a massive understatement. Not only have both students dedicated all four years of their high school careers to the performing arts, but they have also achieved the ultimate academic honor—both have been named Valedictorians for the graduating class..
What truly sets Declan and Sophie apart is their tireless work ethic outside of class time. Instead of staying inside their respective bubbles, they regularly collaborated across the guitar and orchestra disciplines to strengthen the entire performing arts family.
While they will be dearly missed at West Hills, the future is incredibly bright for these two stars. This fall, Declan will be heading north to attend the University of California, Berkeley, while Sophie will be heading east to attend Yale University.
Thank you, Declan and Sophie, for your artistry, your brilliant minds, and your massive hearts. You have made West Hills incredibly proud, and we cannot wait to see the impact you make on the world next!
