Late start as we lingered at Susy's and Jerry's before heading into Breck. We resupplied at City Market and replaced Cassi's sticky rear derailleur cable at a local bike shop. Having run into so much snow on Georgia Pass we elected to take the Summit county bike path and avoid an arduous hike-a-bike crossing off the 10 Mile Range. The bike path was nice and fast, 12 miles in 45 minutes with some nice views along the river and beaver ponds at the end. We passed 2 Continental Divide Trail(CDT) thru hikers on their way to Frisco to resupply. Once we reached Copper Mt. we were all relieved to be back on the CT and on single track. On the climb up toward Searle Pass we saw that the CT was contiguous with the CDT (Continental Divide Trail) In fact the 3100 mile CDT overlaps with the CT for 200 miles which started Cassi and I thinking about our next adventure. As the day began to fade and the trail became more snowy we decided to camp around 11,3000 ft a little below Janet's Cabin. Janet's Cabin is one of a series of backcountry lodges scattered in the central mts of Colorado and are great destinations in the winter and summer. We were too early as they don't reopen until mid July. It was nice to camp up high, just below treeline. Cassi and I broke out the cards and taught John and Dave the finer art of "Oh Hell" before turning in for the night.
