Homework Policy
Students are generally assigned homework in Math and Reading(read for 10-15 minutes every evening Monday through Thursday. Assignments in Health, Science, and Social Studies are given as needed. Homework will reinforce what we are learning in
class.Your child’s homework will be in their homework folder or green plastic folder. Please check your child’s student folder for daily homework assignments.
The teacher will check each day to see whether or not a child has completed his homework assignments. Failure to complete homework will impact your child’s performance in second grade.
While homework is important, I do not want your child to stress over it. Please be sure to check your child’s homework each night.

Classroom Expectations
Students are expected to follow the School District of Greenville County’s Discipline Plan outlined in the Brook
Glenn Student Handbook. In addition, students are expected to follow our school-wide rules. Our classroom
rules are as follows:
1. Follow directions quickly.
2. Raise your hand before you speak.
3. Raise your hand before you leave your seat.
4. Make smart choices.
Each student will have their behavior recorded using the Class Dojo website. Parents are encouraged to access
their child’s behavior on the Class Dojo website. Students will gain and lose dojo points based upon their
behavior. In the event of continued disruptive behavior, the teacher will determine consequences appropriate to the behavior such as silent lunch, removal from the group, or restricted play during recess Continued disruptive behavior will result in a school-wide behavior form being completed. The parent will then be contacted via
email, note, or phone call. Serious infractions such as fighting will result in a discipline referral.
As a team parents and teachers will work together to help create a safe learning environment for all students.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions you have throughout the school year about behavior.

Parent Teacher Communication
Open lines of communication between the school and home result in a more successful year for all students.
Communication with parent is by monthly newsletter, green folders, Class Dojo, classroom website, and emails. The newsletter includes topics of study, upcoming events, reminders, and skills covered. The student’s green folder goes home each day. Included in the folder is your child’s homework and any notes. Class Dojo is also used
to communicate with parents daily on their child’s behavior. The classroom website is updated monthly with
information such as classroom newsletter, upcoming events, parent tips, etc.
Communication:
Parents also receive good notes and phone calls. Conferences will be held at the end of the first nine weeks. Additional parent conferences will be held again in the spring.
eLearning Guidelines:
In the event of school being closed, students will need to log onto their Google Classroom at 8:00 AM for all
assignments for that day. Links to any Google Meets can also be found in your child’s Google Classroom.
Procedures for non-instructional routines:
Tardies
If a student arrives after the 7:45 AM bell, he/she is marked tardy and must go to the office to get an excuse.
The school office notifies parents when tardies are in excess of district guidelines.
Lunch Choices
Each morning students make their lunch choices. Students need to be in the room by 7:45 a.m. to make their choice. Breakfast and lunch are free for our students.
Money
Please be sure that any money that is sent in is in a sealed envelope or bag with the student’s name and what the money is for or go online and place money in your child's account.
Transportation Change
If your child will be going home a different way than they normally do, please call the front office at 355-4700
or send your child’s teacher a note. Unless we receive a note or phone call, students will be sent home their
normal way.
Chromebooks
Chromebooks will stay at school to be recharged. If there is dangerous weather in the forecast the students will take their chrombooks home to be prepared for the possible event of e-learning.
