About Dr. Fowler

This is my 15th year at Hillcrest Middle School and my 11th year teaching broadcast journalism and multimedia. Prior to coming to HMS, I taught high school English for six years. Although I enjoyed teaching high school students, middle school is my favorite! I have a B.A. in English from Winthrop University with double minors in education and dance, an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, and an MA in English, also from Winthrop. After nine LONG years, I finally finished my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Clemson University in 2021. I also earned my Journalism Educator Certification from the Journalism Education Association in 2022. I am passionate about education, for both my students and myself, and I strive to maintain current knowledge of educational research and teaching strategies.

I am the mother of three children: Kaiser, age 16; Lincoln, age 14; and Vesper, age 11. We also have six cats named Numony, Bob, Skittles, Marceline, Dutch, and Goblin Barrel; a bull terrier named Snarf; a border collie named Zephyr; and Vesper's pomeranian puppy Willow.
