Fear not and don't stress, the good news is---- You can log in to quaver using a parent email - either through google like I show in the slide, or by filling out the sign up form. After you create a a quaver account you can enter the class code (listed in the google slide) and you will be in.

My main reason for using quaver at home is to give you guys the most engaging resource I have available. I'm focused on adding activities to enrich and not assignments to load students up with. I'm continuing to add more things like sing-a-longs, dances, skits, and interactives but don't feel like you have to do all of them. Our guidelines suggest 20 minutes of one related arts per day, so if you watch one quaver video or sing three songs once a week your in the ballpark.

If you want to dig deeper into finding your child's account:

Everyone gets an email account automatically when they are enrolled in Greenvllie county schools. I tried looking on my end to see if there was a list of student usernames but couldn't find such a thing. Obviously this is all new territory and I am reaching out to ETS our tech department to see if I can get a list of usernames. The students email is the same username they use to log in to a Chromebook or computer at school followed by @greenvilleschools.us

[(first initial)(partoflastname)(4 digit number)(@greenvilleschools.us)]

the students password is their six digit birth date.

It's possible you have that username and just didn't know it was also an email account.

Again, it isn't a big deal if you want to use a different account - For safety I have turned off the messaging features so neither students or parents can communicate with each other. So there's no harm in using whatever email you want to use.

Hope this helps, I am working to make this as easy as I can for everybody and I want to support our students and parents any way I can during this unprecedented situation.

Studying music is essential to your child's education!

Here are just a few of the reasons...

~Learning music exercises both sides of the brain -

the left, more practical side, and the right, more creative side!

~Music reinforces what students are learning in other disciplines:

~Music helps students develop higher critical thinking skills. It is built around basic concepts and skills that are layered with complexities. Evaluating and analyzing music requires critical thinking.

~Music allows for self-expression, and can assist with development of positive self-esteem and confidence!

Math: Students learn the numerical value of music notes and rests and learn to read and play them grouped in patterns on the music staff. The staff, which is also divided into units called measures, has a time or meter "signature" notated at the beginning of the song that gives essential information about how to read the music. Music is full of symbols, resembling algebraic symbols, that represent important information about how to "navigate" through a musical selection.

Science: Vocal cords and other music instruments make sounds by making sound waves and vibrations; the length and frequency of these determine the highness and lowness of the pitch as well as the unique tonal quality of the sound.

Social Studies: The lyrics and various styles and genres of music can teach about specific historical periods and diverse world cultures.

English: Reading music helps with reading and language skills. The composition of music form is similar to that of story writing; main idea or theme, introduction, content, summary, and resolution.

And honestly music is just plain fun!
