Welcome to class! I am excited to have you as part of our classroom this year. Whether you already enjoy working with computers or are just beginning to explore technology, this is a place where everyone can learn, create, and grow.
In this class, you'll discover how technology impacts our everyday lives while building skills that will help you in school and in the future. You will learn how to use a variety of computer applications, improve your digital citizenship skills, solve problems, think creatively, and work together with your classmates.
6th Grade – Computer Tech: You'll develop essential computer skills by learning to use productivity software, practice keyboarding, create digital projects, and become responsible digital citizens.
7th Grade – App Creators: You'll explore the exciting world of app development by designing, planning, and creating your own mobile apps. You'll learn how technology is used to solve real-world problems while strengthening your creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
8th Grade – Fundamentals of Computing: You'll dive deeper into computer science concepts using CodeHS, where you'll learn the fundamentals of programming through interactive lessons and hands-on coding activities. You'll discover how computers work, develop computational thinking skills, and write code to create programs, solve challenges, and prepare for future computer science and technology courses.
This is a hands-on class where you'll learn by doing. You'll complete exciting activities, creative projects, coding challenges, and real-world projects that encourage you to think like a designer, programmer, engineer, and problem solver. Don't worry if something seems difficult at first—making mistakes is part of learning, and every mistake is an opportunity to improve. I'll be here to help you every step of the way.
Our classroom is a place where everyone is expected to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. I encourage you to ask questions, participate in class activities, and always do your best. Every student has the ability to succeed, and I believe each of you will accomplish great things this year.
