My name is Kevin Armstrong, and I am proud to teach 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. I am currently in my 19th year of teaching and have had the opportunity to teach a variety of subjects, including Project Lead the Way (PLTW), Computer Technology, Google Workspace, Reading Support, English/Language Arts, and Social Studies.
I grew up in both Florida and Minnesota and graduated from Martin County High School in 1982. After graduation, I proudly served in the United States Air Force for more than seven years, with assignments at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina and Hill Air Force Base in Utah. During my military service, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Park University.
After leaving the Air Force, I spent several years as a restaurant general manager and later worked in the telecommunications industry throughout the Upstate. My passion for education eventually led me back to school, where I earned a Master of Arts in Teaching in Middle Level Education from Clemson University in 2006, with concentrations in English/Language Arts and Social Studies. Since then, I have enjoyed helping middle school students learn, grow, and prepare for future success, including many years teaching Related Arts and CTE courses.
Outside of school, I am blessed to be married to the love of my life. My wife is also a middle school educator and teaches 6th Grade Social Studies at Woodmont Middle School. Together, we have seven adult children, ranging in age from 29 to 38, 5** wonderful grandchildren**.
When I have free time, I enjoy photography, reading, boating, and spending time with my family. We love being outdoors, visiting the beach, and traveling whenever we can. Some of my favorite destinations include Orlando, Pigeon Forge, Cancún, Freeport (Bahamas), Las Vegas, Edisto Beach, Walt Disney World, Charleston, and the beaches of Southeast Florida.
I am also an avid football fan and enjoy cheering on the Miami Dolphins, Clemson Tigers, and South Carolina Gamecocks.
I have called Greenville, South Carolina home since 1990, where my wife and I live with our two lovable 12-year-old Boxers, Tank and Jasmine.
I look forward to a great school year and am excited to work with students as they explore new skills, solve real-world problems, and prepare for future careers!
