Middle School Health

Health and Safety Education is taught every year in grades 6-8 through the Physical Education Department. The Comprehensive Health Act of 1988 requires 250 minutes a week for 9 weeks of instruction in health and safety education for grades 6-8.

2017 South Carolina Academic Standards for Health and Safety Education

Standard 1: Students will comprehend concepts related to health promotion and disease prevention to enhance health.

Standard 2: Students will analyze the influence of family, peers, culture, media, technology, and other factors on health behaviors.

Standard 3: Students will demonstrate the ability to access valid information, products, and services to enhance health.
