About Me

This is my 20th year teaching physical education (PE) and 6th year teaching at Gateway.  I have been around this community for a long time.  I volunteered in some of Mrs. Rabey’s PE classes at Gateway in 1999 while I was a student at Travelers Rest High School. I also volunteered in some of Mr. Barbier’s PE classes in 2003 while I was a student at Furman University.  My daughter went to Gateway, and my son is here now.  My wife even went to Gateway when she was a kid!  Gateway feels like home to my whole family.

I love what I do and practice what I preach.  I value my health and have always tried to stay in excellent physical condition to be a role model for my students.  My favorite physical activity is running.  I am a 15-time marathon finisher, including two finishes at the Boston Marathon (2011 and 2023).  I've also run  a sub six-minute mile at least once each year since 2006.   My best mile time this year is 4:50!
